| A simple, sturdy design of Form Following Function. Marnie set herself the following brief: to design furniture that she would be able to make herself, require limited machinery preferably hand tools, to have commercial value and environmental considerations. The specific influences came from wont of simplicity of design and function, traditional timber framed constructions, earnestly scrubbed kitchen tables, carved up school desks, ancient monastic cells, weathered fence posts, the aging and patina of used wood were to become sources of inspiration. So, the scrubbed timber slots together and sits outdoors getting old. A dining arrangement of table, benches, sideboard, bowls and after dinner recliner. In choosing to make furniture to commission Marnie enjoys the ability to make things fit specific requirements and with words that personalize and decorate the work.
